This is one of those few discussion sites that aren't totally dominated by 20-somethings like me. I know there's lots of you children of the 60s out there, so I'm going to yell at you. I doubt this will be very productive, but I've got to get it off my chest.
For the past week or so I've had a difficult time watching my television. It seems every commercial break I see this certain commercial, and this ad just makes my blood boil. You may have seen it, it's a Fidelity ad. This ad sells mutual funds, all the while featuring psychedelic imagery and the song Inna Gadda Da Vida. INNA FUCKING GADDA DA VIDA MAN. You guys used to get wasted and have crazy and free monkey-sex listening to that song. Now it's being used to trick you into buying into the stock market. What in the flying shit is going on here?
When did your Boomer souls die? You stupid bastards somehow managed to come up with a great vision, then totally forgot about it as soon as it became inconvenient. What happened to you?
What was so bad about LSD, free love, and dancing freely, naked in the mud? I sure would love to get in on some of that now. And what came of those strong principles you espoused so much? The willingness to fight a government gone wrong, it seems to have left your generation long ago. Why?
Look I'm sure many of those oldies here on Kos probably hate many of these things like I do. But I'm surrounded by Boomers who think trashing Iron Butterfly is A-Ok. What the hell happened between then and now? I'm truly curious.
