Yesterday, I was reading Kos' front-page diary on
Lieberman's appearance on Connecticut radio, where Lieberman claimed his demagogic quotes questioning the patriotism of Democratic war opponents were taken out of context.
Anyway, near the end of the transcript, with Lieberman in full "cornered rabid dog" mode, Lieberman derisively accuses the host McEnroe of getting his quotes and context from "(liberal) bloggers". McEnroe replies he got the quotes from the New York Times, and Lieberman replies to this:
"Well, that's just as bad!"
That just about blew my skull, for reasons I'll give below.
According to Lieberman, one or more of the following are true:
- The Times is hostile to Lieberman.
- The Times is hostile to supporters of the war.
- The Times is hostile to Neocons.
- The Times was or remains skeptical of the Iraq war.
This comes as news to me and to the reality universe, of course.
Lieberman has now lost it, as Kos and FireDogLake brilliantly suggest. Lieberman is trying to out-Hannity Hannity, railing against the New York Times as if it were some liberal bogeyman. Lieberman has no shame, repeating the most nonsensical falsehood offered yet by the Neocons, that of some "liberal media" trying to subvert our glorious Judeo-Christian soldiers.
