Update: fixed the incorrect figure! Thanks for the catch!
I'm helping a local candidate get her blog rolling. Any Kos readers in Iowa's 5th district? If so, take a moment to check out Joyce Schulte. She ran in 2004 and managed, without a lick of help from DC dems, to garner 37% of the vote against the republican incumbent! This year, watch out King!
Schulte to take No Break for Spring Break
Congressional Candidate going strong in Iowa's 5th District
Creston, IA - Voters seeking a face-to-face with Congressional candidate Joyce Schulte will find her throughout the district during next week's spring break. Schulte, who officially filed her candidacy with the Iowa Secretary of State's office last week, has actually been running for nearly a year. She continues her drive on the campaign trail this week with stops in Storm Lake, Massena, and Dickinson and Harrison counties. Other stops will be added by the start of the tour, Monday, March 27 with full details available on the campaign website that day at www.SchulteforCongress.com.
Schulte will be making appearances at county fundraisers as well as thanking volunteers along the way who assisted in the petition drive that put her on the ballot. Iowa's 5th District is a sprawling set of 32 counties requiring many hours of driving and much organization to qualify to be on the June 6 ballot. Schulte and volunteers from all 32 counties collected nearly 2,000 signatures, well over the 1,100 required.
Schulte will be available for interviews along her route and arrangements can be made with media outside of the route to talk about her candidacy.
