This is a rare "down" day for me, no book tour events, no media to do, and I got to sleep in my own bed (and sleep I did, I was down at 8 p.m. last night).
This morning I've scanned some of the going ons of the last few days (I'm completely out of touch when on the road), and I noticed the dustup over long front page posts. Here's my "official" response: tough shit. If 400 words is too much for you to handle, then you've got a coupe of options: 1) Read the funnies. Not a lot of words there; 2) learn to scroll down a page; 3) get an RSS reader and set it to read just headlines. No extraneous words in headlines; or 4) find a site that better suits your style.
The irregulars are under orders from me NOT to use the extended copy box. So if you've got a problem with that, your problem is with me, not them. And I won't change my policy on that. My god, what would some of you complainers have done back in the Billmon era? Now there were some epic FP posts!
- TAP profiles Ned Lamont.
- This sucks. Arrested Development is officially dead. Its creator decided he was done, even though both ABC and Showtime were interested in picking it up.
- Jane's got Ramesh Ponnuru's back, even though he's already furiously trying to deny the book is about what its cover says it is.
- Fuck this!
- Remember the end of the quarter is fast approaching. If you're going to contribute to your favorite candidate, now's the time to do it. Here's the netroots endorsed list, but there are lots more like them that need to show a strong end-of-quarter performance.
- MoveOn is doing virtual phonebanking for Francine Busby in the CA-50 special election. The 250 volunteers who contact the most voters will get a free copy of Crashing the Gate.
- Funny how everything is bloggable these days, and our tour is no different. Adam Conner, who did the planning for our great GW event on Monday, has pictures up at his Flicker site. PoliticsTV has video. Raising Kane blogged it, as did diarist RenaRF. Meanwhile, Salon has a cover story/review of the book, pairing it with Glenn Reynold's An Army of Davids.
- The Salon reviewer doesn't like An Army of Davids. I'm almost done with it, and while it has its moments of silliness, I'm actually enjoying it. Of course, I am enamored by the notion of people-powered anything, and at the root, that's the point of Reynold's book. Its forays into politics can grate, but outside of the political sphere, there's much there to like. I'll have more to say once I finish the book.
- Doctors remove two fetuses from infant. It was triplets, with two of them growing inside the other. That sound you hear is the heads of anti-abortion fanatics exploding.
- Phoenix didn't lose Air America for too long. It's back.
- Scott McClellan doesn't know who the Prime Minister of Canada is, even though PM Stephen Harper is a Bushbot.
