Today is the last day of my first full quarter ever as a candidate of any kind, much less a candidate for Congress. I am running for Congress against Tom Tancredo because I truly believe in what our Founding Fathers tried to give us--government of the people, for the people, and by the people. I am an American, just like you, proud when we do good, sad when we do not, and I want to make sure we do the former more often than the latter.
I truly appreciate the opportunity to connect with all of you out there in OUR America via Daily Kos and so many other courageous blogs. I am running for Congress because I believe in people over profit and because I believe in the greatness of America and I want to give it back to the people.
President Lincoln said it better than I ever could, and as you read this, don't think only of war, think of all the men and women who struggle for justice in our Country every day:
"But in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow, this ground. The brave men (and women) who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here...from these honored dead we (must) take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion; that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain; that this nation, under God, SHALL HAVE A NEW BIRTH OF FREEDOM; AND THAT GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, AND FOR THE PEOPLE, SHALL NOT PERISH FROM THE EARTH"
I'll leave it at that and ask you to visit my website at http://winterforcongress.com/.
Best of luck to all our fantastic progressive candidates out there! Stand tall! Stand strong!
