Dear Senator Arlen Specter
I am not a Pennsylvanian, but I am an American who is very concerned. I wanted to write to you concerning the NSA spy program ordered by (P)resident G.W. Bush. I want to first remind you of the oath that you and every Senator take, "I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."
I know you have said you have concerns about this program, as you should. I have concerns about it, as does every other American. I want to share my thoughts with you, as I have with other Senators like Dayton of MN, and Senator Feingold of WI, and Coleman of MN, among many others. I don't want to leave you out of course, of all the Senators of course not you! I will write to every one of you until the message is read and
ACTION is taken against G.W. Bush breaking the constitutional law, which is the supreme law of our land sir. Hearings alone do not suffice for me sir.
Let us remember that Amendment IV says, "That The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." He didn't even retrieve a warrant! He totally bypassed this procedure! Who the hell does he think he is?? King George?? I, being lucky enough to be an American, take my constitutional rights very seriously.
I am very angry over the program being ordered when G.W. Bush can be quoted for saying, "Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires -- a wiretap requires a court order. Nothing has changed, by the way. When we're talking about chasing down terrorists, we're talking about getting a court order before we do so." This was G.W. Bush in 2004! You want to remind me when the program was ordered to start?? (oh that was 2002) A blatant lie he told to the American people two years after the fact of him ordering the NSA to spy on Americans!!! Not the first lie he has told of course, and I am sure it won't be the last. The arrogance of this man, I truly believe he thinks he is king. I want to also make it quite clear here that I have left the republican party. Don't you ever ask for another dime! Don't ever think to ask for another vote from me or of my family members!! You people disgust me with your complicity and the corruption some of you have participated in. You are suppose to be Americans FIRST and republicans/democrats SECOND! This complaint is going across the board to the Democrats too. Complicit cowards by majority occupy Washington, and I am now Independent because of it.
I don't want to forget to mention the oath G.W. Bush took when he was placed in office that he clearly broke to uphold, protect and defend the constitution of the United States. Do you people there in Washington think this is a joke, or a game??? You can waste time and money to attempt to impeach Bill Clinton over a blowjob and lying under oath, but you won't move on a President who CLEARLY broke his OATH OF OFFICE and also broke the supreme law of our land, the CONSTITUTION! On top of that he broke the FISA law of 1978. We have him tell us all the time about how Iraq has a constitution and how that is a good thing, what about our own constitution? Oh that is right he is also quoted as to saying these things referring to our constitution, "I don't give a goddamn," Bush retorted. "I'm the President and the Commander-in-Chief. Do it my way." "Mr. President," one aide in the meeting said. "There is a valid case that the provisions in this law undermine the Constitution." "Stop throwing the Constitution in my face," Bush screamed back. "It's just a goddamned piece of paper!" Doug Thompson reported that in December of 2005. You can find an article on that at Capitol Hill Blue.
Now Senator Specter I have read FISA act of US Code title 50, section 1802 concerning electronic surveillance. It is quite clear from what is there HE BROKE THE LAW put in place! To be exact it says, "Notwithstanding any other law, the President, through the Attorney General, may authorize electronic surveillance without a court order under this subchapter to acquire foreign intelligence information for periods of up to one year if the Attorney General certifies in writing under oath that" Clearly you can see it says foreign intelligence WITHOUT A COURT ORDER. It also says here, "the acquisition of the contents of communications transmitted by means of communications used exclusively between or among foreign powers, as defined in section 1801 (a)(1), (2), or (3) of this title; or the acquisition of technical intelligence, other than the spoken communications of individuals, from property or premises under the open and exclusive control of a foreign power, as defined in section 1801 (a)(1), (2), or (3) of this title;
And I feel I must include all of this information to be sure you understand I know what I am talking about here and that you don't take the common step of MOST Senators to just blow me off with some automated crap response. Of course I am almost certain you will do anyway. Section 1802 also states regarding Americans that, "there is no substantial likelihood that the surveillance will acquire the contents of any communication to which a United States person is a party; and" It doesn't take an expert to read those words to get understanding to what it says the law is to be. A ninth grader can read that and comprehend what it says.
The American Bar Association had written a letter to George W. Bush in February of 2006 urging him and his administration to give serious consideration to the recommendations they had sent with a roster of the experts who had given statements. It starts out by saying, "RESOLVED, that the American Bar Association calls upon the President to abide by the limitations which the Constitution imposes on a president under our system of checks and balances and respect the essential roles of the Congress and the judicial branch in ensuring that our national security is protected in a manner consistent with constitutional guarantees;"
Now I want to address your investigation hearing on the NSA spy program. Golly gee! You finally acted to do something. You want an award? It is great that something is finally being done of course but I think more should be done in regards to securing our constitution. The program funding been stopped??
You know Mr. Specter, your conscious tells you that G.W. Bush is on the very wrong end of the spectrum on MANY issues and you know in your heart of hearts that he isn't what he says he is (conservative). You know from the integrity I know you own that he needs to be impeached for breaking the laws. Why are you so cowardly in coming out to say so????? Why are all of you in Washington so scared of this guy?
From the spy program, to the secret prisons, to the torture comments his administration has made, to the invasion of Iraq, and the downing street memo, to the connection to Abramoff/Bush and the fact Abramoff funneled money to Israel sniper schools for terrorist activities, come on Specter, come on! You have to know what is going on here! Majority of the American people are awake now. The American people need help in stopping this!! Are you with us or against us? I guess that is a legitimate question this late in the game.
Now I worry what will happen to me for voicing my opinion to you and the other Senators and my concerns about G.W. Bush. Never thought that I, as an American citizen, would ever have to wonder that...
Thanks for the time Senator Specter. I hope to hear a REAL response from you soon.
Regards,
From a true American Patriot
