Vizzini: "He didn't fall??? Inconceivable!!!"
Inigo Montoya: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
It occured to me today that we have our very own Vizzini in the White House when I read this story about Bush signalling more personnel changes. The motivation, says King George, is to ensure that he is getting "crisp information."
You will recall during the heyday of Camp Sheehan that Bush also explained that he was "mindful" of his need to get plenty of good rest so that he could make "good, crisp decisions."
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
See, Mr. Preznit, it's okay sometimes to take license and liberties with speech, usage, syntax, et cetera. Some of literature's greatest authors and poets have done so to wonderful effect. However, you are neither an author nor a poet, and your time, I submit, might just be better spent perfecting your grasp of of the basics than attempting acrobatic feats of Jabberwokitude.
To wit, Mr. Preznit, and because I care, here are some things that might be correctly described as "crisp":
This is crisp -- and delicious:
Apple Crisp
4 apples, peeled and sliced
1 tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup flour
4 teaspoons brown sugar twin
4 teaspoons butter
1 teaspoon cinnamon
dash nutmeg
Place apples, water, and salt in a pie plate or 8-inch baking dish sprayed with vegetable cooking spray. Combine remaining ingredients with a fork until crumbly; sprinkle over apple slices. Bake in top part of the oven at 350° for about 25 minutes.
Apple Crisp Recipe serves 4.
I am sure you are familiar with this popular brand of breakfast cereal. It is also crisp.
This gentleman is crisp.
For posterity, I should and will conclude with a list of things that are not crisp:
Your thinking
Your decisions
The information and intelligence supporting the above
Bananas
Rotary engines
Nasal spray
Nude paintings
The future
Octopi
There are many more examples of things that are crisp, and not crisp. In fact, there are a plethora.
I hope you find this instructive.
