The Detroit News Political Weblog has been an interesting experiment in new media, mixing the writings of the print edition's editorial department with a panel of "citizen bloggers", rotated anew with fresh members every several months. I was on the panel for a while, before rules prohibiting panelists from working on political campaigns (in my case, my own), made me quit. For the most the site worked well, until one by one, the liberal bloggers became quieter, writing less often, and the paper started to add more and more conservative editors to the panel. Right now, you should
go over there to apply for a spot on the panel. If nothing else, you should go comment on the lunatic rantings of panelist
J.D. Andary and the inarticulate, knuckle-dragging neo-cons that currently use the comment section to combat their long-buried feelings of inadequacy.
