Is this "War on Easter" advertisement a joke?
If you haven't read the site:
Using its documentary THE GOD WHO WASN'T THERE as the chief weapon, Beyond Belief Media is covertly planting DVDs of the film in churches throughout the United States. The popular movie, currently ranked #1 on Amazon.com's independent documentaries list, is critical of the irrational beliefs of Christians and asserts that Jesus Christ did not exist.
Judging by the photos already on this site of "completed missions," it looks as though this isn't a joke.
I'm not really hurt by the fact the a group of people would do this. It's not like they're burning down churches are anything. But I am troubled that this site, a leading blog of the liberal movement, allows this advertisement to stay on the front page, thereby condoning of the activity.
It's one thing to fight against a Christian theocracy. It's totally different to break the law, by trespassing on church grounds, and plant 666 copies of an atheistic documentary. The front-page ad gives people like Pat Roberson credit when he rants on about liberals waging a war against Christianity.
I know the documentary, the subsequent missions to plant copies in churches, is meant to cause this kind of reaction. I don't care about the movie or their advertisements. It's a free country and they can advertise wherever they want - as long as it's legal. But I do care about the mainstream liberal movement condoning, or at the very least ignoring, this type of activity.
