Randi Rhodes on her Air America radio show today did a great job of bringing to light an Iranian approach to the USA proposing nuclear talks. The offer was transmitted via the Swiss Ambassador to Iran but was rejected according to an aritcle available at the Inter Press Service News Agency website www.ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=32672
Apparently Iran acknowledged it would have to address the US's concerns about its nuclear program. They also raised the possibility of cutting off Iran's aid to Hamas (now look where Hamas is) and the Isslamic Jihad, and converting the Hezbollah into a purely socio-political organization.
The neo-cons lead by Dick Cheney managed to block any diplomatic engagement. The neo-cons preferred destabilization and regime change rather than a diplomatic solution, even if it would lead to a dramatic reduction in tensions and maybe a chance to build some workable relationship with Iran.
