I comment on a lot of different topics. I know that it may seem like I am a "Jack of all trades; speaker of some, master of none." So what you may be thinking is "oh no, another diary from earthy. But I promise you, on this issue, I know more then I care to. But now that I know about it, I'm going to talk about it, over and over until there is a big difference made.
When I first talk about the subject, it will seem like it has nothing to do with politics. But bear with me, you will want to read this:
Many people in our country and around the world suffer from intermittent and/or chronic pain. It is often hard for doctors to figure out what is wrong with the person. This is because doctors are not trained correctly in the field of pain, and often give wrong treatments, and when they can't do anything, are quick to call a person who says they have pain "crazy".
How do I know this? I suffer from a disease known as Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, or RSD for short (for information on the disease, go to http://www.rsds.org/). This disease is extremely painful and left untreated can leave a person emotionally and physically unable to do anything that they were ever able to do, even things as getting out of their own bed.
Now, because of pressures from chronic pain support groups, there is a new bill in congress. This bill would significantly increase the amount of awareness, education, and treatment that is being used on chronic pain issues. The bill is known as H.R. 1020, or the National Pain Care Policy Act of 2005 (to find the bill, please go to (http://thomas.loc.gov/).
I know that this is probably the first time many, if not most of you have heard of this. I know that you are already doing so much to help our country get better. This bill, however, is tied to so many other illnesses. Pain that comes from cancer, carpal tunnel, fibromyalsia, even burn victims could get better care with this bill. If you know anyone who has suffered at the hands of pain, it is worth the time just to look at this bill.
If anyone has any questions about the bill, RSD, or how they can help get the bill passed, please make comments and I will answer them as quickly as possible. Thank you just for reading, and thank you for caring.
