I was eating dinner with my parents today, and for the first time ever one of
them brought up the subject of politics. Specifically, Karl Rove's 'demotion,' as far as I can tell more of a reassignment, from his policy role.
My mother's question is the title of this diary: Who does Karl Rove work for?
It seems from what I've read in the recent diaries and comments that Rove's job with the Domestic Policy Council was mainly window dressing, in the first place. But now, it seems, he is officially focused on helping Republicans win elections. However, I see in this lovely
WaPo article that:
Rove and Joe Hagin, who oversees White House administration, intelligence and national security, will remain as deputy chiefs of staff.
Is it just me, or does that sound like a government title? A job that would be paid for by the government?
And this man's focusing on political strategy?
If this is the case, both mom and I agree our tax dollars should not be paying Rove's bills. He should be on the GOP payroll.
Does anyone have any light to shed on this, or possibly better research skills they could bring to bear? This seems a little fishy.
