Why is this news a diary? Because my son is autistic, and there are quite a few folks who frequent this site that have children that are Autistic and I have gained a lot of insight from others on this subject. As some of you know my son was diagnosed with Autism about a year ago. Some may also know, that I fought this diagnosis because I truly thought he was just "quirky". A lot has happened since then, and we started therapy and I finally began to see how he could be helped, and finally faced why it was that his preschool teachers thought he should be tested. Well, my son started Kindergarten, as sort of a trial run for next year, where he will attend Kindergarten at a different school. We are trying to just pick up the social piece, academics can wait till next year. I am proud to report that he is doing so well, he is able to maintain a calm body, and is able to follow instructions just like his fellow classmates. It's the baby steps that count. I am a happy mom. I know we just started school, but the first week went better than expected:)
