I'm sure it's no longer breaking news for many, but Jane Jacobs, the author of Death and Life of Great American Cities and Dark Age Ahead died today.
She was a brilliant thinker and a wonderful example of how dedication to community issues can make a huge difference in the lives of millions of people. Who would have known what a difference a few highways could make?
All politics is local, and so too is culture.
Cheers to Ms. Jacobs, a pragmatist and an activist in the best possible senses.
