It's got to be the email
Now hear me out
Why did Rove's email to Hadley catch Rove off guard?
All the other leaks to journalists, the admin. made about Plame, must have been owned up to in GJ testimony, besides of course Libby and Miller. But the killer leak is Rove forgot about Cooper and Time and didn't testify to that. Was he intentionally misleading or did he really forget? I'm starting to think he really forgot, but that will end up being a huge fricking mistake.
Let's back up and I'll explain
So the White house gets a 12 hour head start on the investigation:
But Gonzales, who was White House counsel at the time, waited 12 hours before officially notifying the rest of the staff of the inquiry.
They know they have to turn over emails limited to a search of the main frame for certain terms the DOJ prosecuters have requested which happen to be according to the subpoena:
1) All documents from February 1, 2002 through 2003 related to Wilson's Niger trip, to Plame, or to contacts with journalists.
2) All documents from July 6 and July 21 of the White House Iraq Group (of which both Hadley and Rove were members).
3) All documents relating to conversations with Matthew Cooper of TIME Magazine.
So why did Rove's email to Hadley get lost and then subsequently forgotten about?
Let's look at the email again:
Matt Cooper called to give me a heads-up
that he's got a welfare-reform story coming.
When he finished his brief heads-up, he
immediately launched into Niger. Isn't this
damaging? Hasn't the president been hurt?
I didn't take the bait, but I said if I were him,
I wouldn't get Time far out in front on this.
So why do you think an email that says "Niger", when "Niger" was clearly a key word for the DOJ search didn't pop up?
Could it be because Cheney's VP office in the 12 hour window did something with all "Niger" emails that were sensitive in nature, because of the admin. shannangins behind the acquisition and use of the forged documents?
Which leads right into Leopolds story not to long ago on 250 missing emails. I bet they all say something about "Niger".
This makes sense now, Fitzgerald didn't think Rove was lying and was dumbstruck when Cooper said Plame was leaked to him by somebody other than Libby.
Cooper and his attorneys were surprised that Fitzgerald agreed to ask Cooper questions only about his conversations with Libby, sources familiar with the investigation said.
The sources said Fitzgerald looked surprised in the August 2004 deposition when Cooper said it was he who brought up Wilson's wife with Libby, and that Libby responded, "Yeah, I heard that, too."
The prosecutor pressed Cooper to then explain how he knew about Wilson's wife in the first place, and Cooper said he would not answer the question because it did not involve Libby, the sources said.
That testimony contributed to a lengthy legal battle, as Fitzgerald sought to compel Cooper to testify before a grand jury about his conversation with the source.
So what does this mean? It means Cheney's office obstructed justice and possibly would have gotten away with it, except Boy genius forgot he leaked to Matt Cooper. Which then opened up the fact that the DOJ subpeona search was manipulated by somebody in the White house. Oh my god, that's Washington for you. Well I don't know for sure but it seems plausible. There's a lot of info out there, I can't cover it all but that looks to be the direction the investigation is headed. Open for discussion.
