As much as I crave the heroin rush of Daily Kos, of that sense of not being alone with my contempt for the Bush tyranny, and of the encouraging political signs for our side, there is one immutable fact that chops my hope off at the knees: Bush and his puppeteers still have 1000 days more to destroy the world.
Here's the thing: we get off so much on Bush's plummeting polls, on the strides of our candidates and of the clear growing discontent on the part of the American people. But what good does it do us if the country is run by those who don't give a fuck about polls. What, like they care that people are starting to hate them? They don't care what people think; they don't WORK FOR PEOPLE. They work for the corporate and Christian facist elements that put them there.
I honestly don't think Bush, Rove, etc. would care if they got down into the teens in the polls. They own the Congress, the media, the military and the courts. As long as those entities work in concert, nothing else matters.
Oh, we Democrats are on the move, ready to take over the House and maybe the Senate this November?? Tough shit. Diebold, etc., will simply make sure that doesn't happen.
My point is, we settle for very little when we cheer ourselves with mere "signs." Those signs mean little in the real world of Republican facism.
But I am weary of my despair. Please, tell me where and how I'm wrong. Please!
