Largely against the backdrop of a new controversial day laborer center that helps anyone find a day's work regardless of their legal status, the voters in Herndon, VA defeated the incumbents who supported the creation of the center in yesterday's municipal elections.
Herndon has a fast-growing Latino population, many of whom are undocumented workers, just looking to earn a day's wage. We are not talking about outsourced tech jobs or skilled labor, but back-breaking manual labor that most Americans won't take work doing.
