So I decided to take the dive yesterday and get some real, physical involvement into the political process and attended a meeting for the group
Democracy for Baltimore. It was an interesting experience to say the least, and I got more than my handful of jobs to try and do. One of which was to try and find people within Maryland's 2nd District in order to help convince the rep there, Rep. Dutch Ruppersberger, to take a stand on HJR 543.
(more beyond the fold)
So, what is
HJR 543? According to THOMAS:
[It]Sets forth the rule for consideration of the joint resolution (H.J. Res. 55) requiring the President to develop and implement a plan for the withdrawal of United States Armed Forces from Iraq.
So I was tasked to help find people either on the Democracy for Baltimore/Maryland roster who were Rep. Ruppersberger's constituents, or barring that a constituent in general who'd push for his support on the matter.
So any Maryland Kossack's interested in helping out here?
As for non-Maryland Kossacks, you don't have to be left out. Simply check out Open Iraq Debate and get a hold of your own local politicos to get the deal on this.
Remember, this isn't about immediate withdrawal. This is just about getting a plan for withdrawal in general, something drastically needed.
