So for the better part of a full "back to work" Monday, TWO diaries (
1 and
2) had the words Russert, Rove and Bitch within close proximity of each other in their TITLES on the Daily Kos!
We all know who reads the Daily Kos (see today's NYTimes)... So the next time that Nancy Pelosi or Howard Dean or Harry Reid sit before Timmeh, do you think that they may be a tad bit LESS intimidated by his power? Maybe through their minds there may pass the meteor of a memory of the phrase "Hey I'm talking to Tim Russert, he's Karl Rove's Bitch!"?
More below...
Now some have criticized my use of the term "Bitch." Misgynistic? Not my intention. I was thinking of the prison use of the term, like in "Oz" when J.K. Simmons made Lee Tergesen his bitch.
But for those of you who prefer a softer approach, allow me to offer the title of Eric Boehlert's new book... "Lapdog." Coincidentally, yesterday Firedoglake used a passage from Boelert's book to offer evidence of Russert's Bitchitude/Lapdogginess...
Following the Cheney/Edwards 2004 debate:
Meet the Press moderator Tim Russert appeared on MSNBC and, like everyone else, was chattering about Cheney's put-down of Edwards, which the pundit thought was efective. But Russert, perhaps better than anyone, immediately recognized Cheney's I've-never-met-you charge wasn't true because Russert was there when Cheney and Edwards were guests on Meet the Press on April 8, 2001. Appearing the next day on the Today show, Russert, discussing the debate's pivotal moment, said, "I thought that John Edwards would call him on it right at that very moment," suggesting Russert knew, "at that very moment" that Cheney's claim was false. And yet following the debate, as Russert analyzed the event on live television he remained mum about the uncomfortable fact that the two vice presidential candidates had met on his program. Instead of deflating Cheney's attack with some relevant facts, Russert, who enjoyeed a series of exclusive Sunday morning talk show interviews with Cheney since 2001, simply sat on the facts.
When you combine this kind of behavior with the process by which Russert went from liberal Democrat to loyal citizen of the GE bottom-line (as described in my diary How Tim Russert became Karl Rove's Bitch) you can see not only a pattern of behavior but a motive for that pattern.
Beyond the fact that either "bitch" or "lapdog" can appropriately describe these motives and behaviors, let us return to the question of why I used the words Russert, Rove and Bitch in such close proximity to one another... Whether it is the more-politically-correct "lapdog" or the more graphically impactful "bitch," the idea is to use language which will resonate in people's memory and help shift the discourse as these creatures of the Beltway engage oneanother. Me, I think Bitch (when combined with Russert and Rove) has a bit more impact.
Given the fact that people like Kerry, Reid, Gore, Dean, Boxer, Feingold and Obama have posted here, I assume that their staff members check in here regularly and keep them posted on particularly impactful diaries...
And given the fact that those same people frequent Meet the Press and are confronted by Timmeh with aggressive questions often written by the Opposition Research department of the RNC, do you think it might help those individuals if they knew that there is evidence that Russert has become Karl Rove's bitch?
In the words of the bard... "Mission Accomplished!"
