With the story breaking in San Diego regarding the CA-50 race and Brian Bilbray's residence status I thought of the US Senator from NC - Elizabeth Dole.
She pulled a stunt similar to Bilbray's when she ran for office in NC. She listed her mothers home in Salisbury, NC as her residence if I am not mistaken ( and I don't think that I am). When do you figure she last spent the night there? Think her and Bob return to Salibury during recess? I doubt it.
So where do the Dole's reside?
Bob Dole's official website may shed some light.
http://www.bobdole.org/...
According to the site:
"The Doles live in an apartment at the Watergate in Washington, D.C., where they try their best to combine very busy schedules, commuting between Washington and North Carolina. For relaxation, they enjoy dinner at local restaurants, reading and working out on their treadmill, occasionally getting away to their condo in Florida for a break."
Now I need to do some research. Perhaps someone can help me. Shouldn't a Senator from a state reside in that state (the law seems to suggest they should)? Do the Dole's own property in North Carolina? It doesn't appear so. What penalty might Dole face if she is in fact not a resident of North Carolina?
