This will be a semi-regular diary, maybe once a month or thereabouts. What I'd like to know from people is what they think about
the FAQ.
What I'm after are things like:
- Complaints about difficult-to-understand sections
- Requests for more detail in some sections
- Suggestions for additional topics
- Corrections to incorrect information
- Anything else that comes to mind
For example, it was suggested earlier today that perhaps the language about hidden comments should be changed to something a bit more ...emphatic, such as:
Comments are not deleted. If you think your comment has been deleted, you are wrong. If you really really think your comment has been deleted, you are wrong. Yes, really. Your comment has been hidden, but Trusted Users can still see it, and have the option to un-hide it.
Your comment is unlikely to be unhidden. Trust us on this one.
Ok, maybe that one won't go in, but after one
flame war too many, I'm tempted.
In addition, let me note that even after this diary scrolls off, there are a few ways to suggest changes to the FAQ. Firstly, post something in a diary or openthread. This is sort of unreliable; there's no guarantee that I or another FAQ editor will see it. Secondly, send me an email; my address is in my user profile. Thirdly, and preferably, post a message on the FAQ talk page on dkosopedia.
Of course, anyone who wants to contribute directly to the FAQ by editing the wiki page is urged and encouraged to do so.
