Inspired by London Yank's Walk Back the Cat diaries, and by this pathetic attempt by Kerry to
strike while the iron is hot (thanks ickey shuffle) on the Swiftboat crap, I'd like to propose a strategy to the Kossack community.
I think it's important for us to start to realize that while we still have a few years left of George Bush, he is not the long term threat to this country. All of Bush's bad poll numbers will not necessarily translate into low support for other Republicans who might successfully distinguish themselves from him in 2008. We must stay vigilant to the short term actions and threats posed by this administration, but from a campaign and message perspective, we must start thinking about the threat posed by the Next Wave of Republicans.
Are we prepared?
Here's a compliation of polling results
via Wikipedia of possible Republican front runners for the nomination:
Condoleezza Rice 26.23%
Rudolph Giuliani 22.09%
John McCain 19.51%
Jeb Bush 8.07%
George Allen 7.87%
Newt Gingrich 7.79%
Fred Thompson 4.33%
Bill Frist 4.11%
Mitt Romney 3.11%
Rick Santorum 1.83%
Tom Tancredo 1.83%
Are we ready for all of these people?
Let's get ready. Let's find out everything we can about each of them.
I would like to start working on some files to go in Dkosopedia that provides documentation, with links, on the history of those most likely to run for the Republican nomination for President in 2008. Let's start doing some advance work for the Democrats, doing what we do best, getting out our google fingers, documenting the inconsistencies, lies, true motivations, corrupt connections, etc etc of the Republican party. We have diaries that do this that go by day after day, but we should be systematically putting them together in files on DKosopedia by name so they are easily referred to once the season is upon us.These files can be used by ourselves and the Democrats as they prepare for the next big Presidential showdown.
How are these people likely to attack the Democrats? What are their strengths? What are their weaknesses?
Let's get busy!
