You can't crash the gate if you don't know where the damn thing is! The gate is NOT where you think it is! It's NOT on Capital Hill.
We need real change and that can't and won't happen from the top down.
"...Dems need a plan...Dems need a spine...keep your powder dry...filibuster...don't filibuster...get some balls...wait until after 06...pie..."
In Texas, we know what needs to happen. We should know because Deep in the bowels of Texas is where it all began.
David Van Os has been called
"the new Paul Wellstone" by some here on Daily Kos. He fully understands the gravity of the current situation and, in January when he is sworn in as the Attorney General for the State of Texas,
he can help everyone in this nation!
Before you read any more, please recommend so others will know.
David Van Os has a plan:
In his own words: (from a post on BurntOrange and an email reply to me)
Kos himself is Washington-centric and that holds him back from crashing more gates. The only political candidacies he supports are those for U.S. Congress seats. He thinks Washington is the solution. It is not. The solution is in taking our states back, all 50. The congressional political culture is so corrupted, we can't change things at the fundamental level just by changing the identities of who sits in the congressional seats. Fundamental change lies in taking the states because that is where government is much closer to the people. It is not just random coincidence that I have always turned down all suggestions that I run for a congressional seat.
The same mentality that says don't campaign in 50 states at the Washington level also has been saying here in Texas for the same stretch of losing years, don't campaign in 254 counties. It's the same mentally constipated philosophy at 2 levels.
Hey, we don't have the luxury to wait for 2008. We have to win in 2006! We have our own history of Losers' Club's battleground strategies right here to upend. There are 254 counties in this state. Before this year, the majority of those counties had not had a statewide political candidate come see people in person in over 20 years. This year your superb statewide ticket is turning that around.
Texas Democrats are taking the lead for the whole country. We're going to the people and taking the political process to them, so they can take their government back. When we sweep this state in November 2006, we will put an end to the cynical battleground philosophy of the Washington and Austin Losers' Clubs. And more importantly, we will put an end to the neo-fascist fear machine. After all, this is where it came from, so when we beat it here, it's gone.
Replacing Capital Hill "big donor" Democrats whose allegiance to the people is diluted by corporate money with more "big donor" Democrats is not crashing the gate. Crashing the gate is taking our government out of the hands of corporations and putting it back where it belongs, with the people.
In his own words:
Dare to Fight and Dare to Win.
It is time to discard the "avoid polarization at all costs" strategy, the "take no risks" strategy, the "appeal to everybody" strategy, and the "chase the middle" strategy. It is time to remember what Jim Hightower told us 20 years ago, "there's nothin' in the middle of the road but yellow stripes and dead armadillos." It is time to cease the followership strategies of scripting campaigns on the basis of what people thought yesterday in polls, and assert the leadership strategies of campaigning for what we know to be right based on our deepest convictions of what we want for tomorrow. It is time to stop worrying about whom we might offend if we speak truth to power, and start worrying about what value are our lives if we don't speak truth to power. It is time to cherish partisan Democrats and reject nonpartisan Nothingcrats. It is time to forget "right-left" analysis and install "right-wrong" analysis. It is time to replace the "liberal-conservative" spectrum with the "liberty-tyranny" spectrum. It is time to stop worrying about how to get money from big donors and start worrying about how to get more money into working people's paychecks. It is time to fight for better lives for voters instead of peddle promises to voters. It is time to treat public office as a duty, not a promotion. We must fight for the people, not in order to win their votes, but in order to win them justice.
He has the backbone we lust after in our elected officials and he has a vast knowledge of the Consitution: (He called our current situation a constitutional crisis before Gore did)

Constitutional crisis
My Message to George Bush and Alberto Gonzales
David's is a TRUE grassroots campaign. He and the other statewide candidates carpool all across Texas to save gas. They stay in Motel 6s and eat pimento cheese sandwiches.
(Do you remember the recent brouhaha because the Rolling Stones refused to surrender their $ 6,776.64 /night hotel room when Bu$h decided he wanted to stay there? WE ARE PAYING FOR THAT!).
DavidVan Os does not waste any campaign contributions on political consultants! The people, his intellect, his vast knowledge of the constitution and common sense are his consultants.
In his own words:
What I Mean by Consultantocracy
The consultantocracy is the collection of unelected operatives who direct Democratic Party strategies and tactics from behind the scenes down the path of relentless failure. The consultantocracy operates in inherent conflict of interest because it is both advisor and vendor, continually advising Democrats that the way out of the wilderness is simply to purchase more of its wares, although the strategies, tactics, and programs it sells continually lead to failure.
The consultantocracy's methodology is to reduce the processes of democracy to data, numbers, and the marketing of political candidates as packaged products. The consultantocracy teaches Democratic candidates and party officers to follow carefully programmed scripts and formulae in lieu of speaking and acting from the heart. The latter teaching is essential for the consultantocracy to be able to control the candidates' behaviors in order to conform to the packaged image that the consultant is carefully marketing.
Through these processes, the consultantocracy comes to control the political process and the candidate becomes a prepackaged product without passion or authenticity. The citizenry, sensing that it is getting packaged products rather than authentic public servants, increasingly disengages from the political process.
It is most amazing that Democrats continue to pay the same operatives over and over again for the purchase of strategies and techniques that turn self government into marketing, wreck democracy, result in continuing failure at the ballot box, and benefit nobody but the consultants, who cry all the way to the bank.
I know that Bu$h has wrecked our economy and that job growth is weak and wages are low.. I know that every Democrat in America is donating all they have and working hard, but your donated money is not trickling down! They are keeping it all for Capital Hill. Our statewide candidates are getting no support at the national or state level! We are all in this together.
Why the hell should you care about some statewide candidate in Texas? Pay close attention now and David Van Os will tell you why:
In his own words: (from a post on Texas Kos)
The new Texas Attorney General who is going to get sworn in to the office next January, after having been elected as part of the Texas Democratic ticket, is going to investigate possible connections between the possible fraudulent use of American military forces in Iraq and private corporate profiteering by corporations and persons doing business in Texas and engaging in activities in Texas.
Can you spell Halliburton? Can you spell Oil? Can you spell Fraud? Can you spell No-bid Contract? Can you say, "Fraudulently appropriating the Texas National Guard for the purpose of funneling illegitimate profits to corporate coffers?" Can you say, "Report to the People of Texas by their Attorney General on Possible High Crimes and Misdemeanors?"
Novel ideas for a state official? NO. In America and Texas, we used to be tough people who stood up to tyranny. If novel, it is only in the 21st century context of general societal docility and servility.
Will I do it? You bet your ass I will. I've had enough of tiptoeing around the tulips about the assault on the rule of law and trampling of our freedoms and our rights that has taken place at the hands of the imperial Bush family. I want to make those gangsters rue the day they decided to exploit Texas residency.
The gate is NOT only on Capital Hill but ALL OVER AMERICA! The most important gate is in Texas. Help Crash the Texas Gate and you will help America!
You know what to do and here's where to do it:
In his own words: (from an email to me)
All of the hue and cry over "what do Democrats need to do" has such a simple answer. It's easy. Just tell the damn truth and mean it.
David Van Os, the next Attorney General of Texas.
Fight, fight, fight!
Fight-em' till hell freezes over,
Then fight-em on the ice.
FIGHTING FOR YOU TOO!
