I know it's been a while since I've put up a poll looking at the demographics of this site. Someone mentioned the haves vs the have-nots among us when it comes to who was able to make it to the YearlyKos convention in Las Vegas last weekend, and it reminded me of a poll I'd been meaning to put up.
I know other factors come into play, but I thought we'd look at what we all make. Houshold income if you're married or living with someone.
Vote in the poll and then leave comments telling us what your money goes for.
More after the flip.
For example, our family makes a good living by anyone's standards. More than 50k but less than 100. Yet it seems like we're ALWAYS broke. We have no savings and are struggling to start putting away $$ for our kids' college funds. Don't talk to me about retirement - that's a pipedream right now.
I started having kids late in life - my first child was born when I was 38 and my second came along right after I turned 40. We'll probably end up trying to help our kids get through college while at the same time trying to help care for our aging parents.
Needless to say that - even though we make a comfortable living - I'm scared to bits at the thought of a large and unexpected bill. (Car is over 10 years old so that's always needing work).
I know things will ease up once the kids start school full time - we won't have to spend $20-25 grand a year on daycare and pre-school fees - so there is a light at the end of the tunnel on that score. But for now - attending conventions like YearlyKos (unless it's in the DC area) is out of the question.
So what's your story? Where do you fall in the scheme of things when it comes to income?
