I just heard on the radio that the House, those "wise" men and women who were elected by the American people, have just voted themselves a 2% raise.
Because of this, I just e-mailed Congressman Hyde, and I'm here to share my letter with you.
See below:
Dear Congressman Hyde,
I am totally disgusted that members of the House have decided to vote a 2% salary increase for themselves for "cost of living." I believe that members of the House are totally out of touch what "cost of living" really means. Let me tell you what it means in your district. It means paying half my monthly salary from two jobs for rent and utilities. It means working 60 hours a week to cover the basic necessities of housing, food, and transportation. It means paying $45.00 at the gas pump for 1 week's worth of gas. It means having no savings because my cost of living is high.
How can Congress vote themselves a raise when they don't have the respect for the American people to raise the Federal Minimum Wage?
When you retire this year, your pension won't be in jeopardy, unlike thousands of people in the state of Illinois. I...I'm speechless at how out of touch this Congress really is with the American people.
It makes me ashamed to live in your district.
Yeah....still speechless
