Thanks for being so welcoming to a new face. Not just a new face, but one shoving a video camera into your face all weekend.
It was certainly a watershed event, and I felt privileged to attend.
I've just begun to load the footage onto the hard drives, and so far it appears to capture the ambiance of the "unofficial" side of the gathering....the booths, the lobby, the live chatter, the prayer service, some caucuses etc.
I shot very little of the "official" gatherings...the ballroom events, the major workshops etc. These were already being taped, so why be redundant.
The material is heavy in b-roll and nat-sound actualities, and very light in interviews.
So what becomes of the footage....?
-I plan to cut together some short segments, and perhaps a 10-20 minute piece. I hope to upload some YouTube/GoogleVideo test snippets, perhaps as early as next week (link forthcoming).
-The DV footage will be made available to whoever the event organizers assign to make the definitive DVD of the event. (MikeNYC?). I'd be happy to collaborate.
-Barring any unforeseen technical or legal complications, I have thoughts of open-sourcing the raw footage to the extended YearlyKos community for use in individuals' own pieces. This would most likely be DV converted to DVD quality full-screen video. I haven't thought this idea through yet. I'd welcome any thoughts....good idea, bad
idea, potential archive locations etc.
Thanks for the great experience.
More later.....
