Such an odd day today. I'm suffering from some sort of allergy causing a sore throat and fatigue, I'm under the gun to file a brief, and I'm dealing with the weird sensation of having to my name on a ballot in the primary election.
That's right, gentle readers, I'm running for office. I filed today, plopped down my money, set up a campaign finance committee, the works. Mind you, it's not a "major" office, or even a "contested" office in the sense I'm running against Republicans (more after the flip...)
I'm running for the local Democratic Central Committee in my county. It's probably the office where I can help the most, IMHO. I think it's fair to say that our Central Committee, probably like Central Committees around the nation, needs a good ole shot of grassroots/netroots energy to help the party see its full potential for the years to come.
I won't say much more than this, but I'm scared and excited all at once. In the coming weeks, I'll probably let you know how things are going...maybe even provide you with a link or two to check out the race. But with lack of sleep and more work calling, I just thought I'd share this bit of "news" with the community. Just a weird sensation all around.
I know not everyone is going to follow my lead, but wouldn't it be great to stack local Democratic leadership from around the country with products and/or followers of the netroots?
That's a vision I have in my head. Time for push this donkey forward.
UPDATE: ACK! I just realized...
this kinda makes me a politician, doesn't it?
Hope y'all don't think any less of me
