I'm getting a bit sick of seeing diaries about 2008 candidates. If you ask me, they almost all suck. The exception is of course Russ Feingold, talk about at man with principles. But beside that, I want to remind everyone about the man that made all of this Democratic resurgence possible, Howard Dean.
The purpose of this diary is to not advocate a Dean 2008 candidacy but remind everyone what is at stake here. The reason why the 2006 elections are so important, aside from the horrible destruction Republicans have brought us, is that this is the first election Howard dean is facing as head of the DNC. Back is early 2003, there were only few men with the balls to stand up to the Republicans, and Howard Dean was one. His bold stance got all of us to mobilize and stand for something. His 2004 campaign ended in ridiculousness, but we must respect that Mr. Dean stood for something and the rest of the Democratic Party let him down and decided on a safe candidate in John Kerry. I want to give Kerry props because since the election he has decided to stand for something.
A lot of us, including myself, have gotten caught up in the Al Gore movement. Hell, I even have a bumper sticker of Gore on my car right now for the 2008 election. But at the heart of Al Gore is Howard Dean. I personally believe, even though I can't prove it, that Gore stayed out of 2004 out of either cowardice or he felt Dean was the man who should be President.
The truth is that Dean has been right about most everything in this country for the last 4 years or so and he deserves our respect. The way he can earn our respect is by us making sure that his Chairmanship of the DNC results in more money than any other Chairman's reign in the history of the DNC, and I MEAN ADJUSTED FOR INFLATION!
So before we pimp some bastard for 2008, let's make sure we pay homage to the man that brought so much of us back to the Democratic Party, Howard Dean.
