Slate's blogger seems to keep some very odd company for a man who is supposed to be a 'Democrat'.

Word spreads that Ann Coulter is supposed to be coming, with Mickey Kaus. Mickey is ostensibly a centrist Democrat, but has long seemed to have a fetish for blonde Republican pundits. This is not to imply that they are or are not dating -- I have no idea.
So anyway, while talking to Christian Johnson and Donna Barstow, I see Mickey arrive with the Ann-tichrist herself.
For too long Demcorats have been represented in the media by insider careerists who think the only way to succeed is to bash Democrats and those in the progressive movement. They represent no one but the Beltway crowd of elitist pundits. They don't see themselves as part or a movement or cause in the same way right wingers do. And they've done very nicely with that strategy - think Joe Klein, Mickey Kaus, Susan Estrich(or even 'Democrat' Tammy Bruce). But their time is up and that is why the likes of Kaus are trying to tear down Markos and Jerome. They are bound to lose for sone simple reason: the work Markos and Jerome have done has greater ends than an invitation to Washington cocktail parties or to junkets with Ann Coulter.
