Democrats are getting sidetracked. Whether its letting the GOP Congress control the debate, or spending too much time churping on and on about the news story of the day regarding the Bush administration, the Democrats are not focused the same way they seemed to be in the spring when it comes to the security message.
Earlier in the year Democrats seemed able to stay on track and constantly hammer away at how Bush has failed to defend America. As they pointed out that Bush tried turning over US ports to a foreign company, failed to fund important homeland security items, allowed FEMA to degrade into a mess, and let Osama escape in Afghanistan, Democrats were effective in looking strong and keeping GOP on the defensive.
Democrats need to re-focus the talking points and again hit on security and do it in a commonsense way that Americans will agree with.
