This story is pretty embarassing, from ABC's Nightline Online.

Some people from the Pentagon testified before the House Intelligence Committee that Al Queda had created a terrorist video game by somehow modifying the source of an existing video game. They showed a movie of the game before the committee and claimed they were using the game to recruit terrorists. It was posted on insurgent websites and you could buy a copy for $25. There was even dialogue in English, talking about how the Americans had destroyed their homes.
These guys get millions a year to search the Internet for "terrorist threats". It turns out they got everything completely wrong...
The video game, created by EA, is called Battlefield 2. They released a "Special Forces" expansion where you can play as all sorts of armies. Included was a generic Middle Eastern army.
A certain player (who picked a Middle Eastern avatar as his character in multiplayer) created a highlight reel of himself and added the dialogue from Team America.
Watch the story... you won't believe it.
