[[PLEASE RECOMMEND!! For the sake of the netroots!!]]

You are invited to a NYC Fundraiser to benefit the campaign of NY State Senate Candidate Brian Keeler!

Our Netroots candidate is ready to ROCK with his first Manhattan fundraiser, but we need your help to spread the word!!

If you could please communicate this important message to everyone you know -- and ask them to spread the word as well -- it would be infinitely appreciated!

This event MUST be a huge success as it will serve as a sort of symbolic measuring stick (in the eyes of DC and the media) of the Netroot's determination to walk the walk when it comes to putting our ideas and passion into a position of policy determination (i.e. getting our people elected).

Because of the 4th of July 'vacation' period, it's going to be tougher to get this information out to the appropriate people.

Thus, multiple announcements will have to be made to the same recipients over the next 7 days. I hope you understand.

On Monday, July 10th, Democratic candidate for New York Senate's 41st District Brian Keeler will be hosting a fundraiser to help us win the district's seat away from Republican incumbent Stephen Saland.

Brian's candidacy is somewhat of a phenomenon in the sense that he has become a 'top tier' state senate race as a 'blogosphere' candidate. Well-known and beloved on and a founder of both and, Brian is deeply ingrained in the progressive Netroots. It is this nationwide support that will allow an upstate, non-state-wide candidate to have a well-attended Manhattan fundraiser.

Rest assured, Brian's senate run is being very closely watched by the millions of activists that make up the progressive political blogosphere and we're cheering him on as 'our' candidate. Because of that, his events will receive very wide coverage on the blogs, most assuredly read by hundreds of thousands if not millions of Democratic activists, politicos, and journalists.

That means the traditional media and the DC folks will get a good view of the man from upstate NY who is taking the Netroots to a whole new level of political involvement!!

Let's make this an event to be remembered -- one with which the press and the politicians will have to take notice!!

EVENT: Fundraiser for Brian Keeler, Democratic Candidate for
NY's 41st Senate District

DATE: Monday, July 10th

TIME: 7:00 PM - 10:00 PM

LOCATION: Prey NYC - 4 West 22nd Street

RSVP: None required. Just show up - and bring your friends!

DONATIONS: Will be taken at the door. The amount is up to you, but I ask that you give till it feels good... REAL good:) And remember, this election is no cakewalk -- as NYBri faces stiff competition against an incumbent Republican. These battles cost money to run effectively and that is where we can make the difference in this race!

CONTACT: Tom Ball ( if you have any questions.

COST: No cover!

COMMENTS: There is a ZERO cover charge, so the maximum amount of dollars can see its way into the Keeler2006 campaign.

We were able to attain an exclusive venue for free from the good folks at Prey NYC, even as other establishments were charging or requiring a 'bar guarantee' totalling thousands of dollars. For that, we ask that you show them our appreciation by simply buying some food and drink during the course of the event. Drink specials, appetizers, and other food will be available on a cash basis.

STILL DEVELOPING: There are still other (hopefully exciting) developments in the works, but these are the things that are currently set in stone.

MARK YOUR CALENDAR!! Go ahead! Do it now! This is an event you do not want to miss. We need you there!

Thank you very much!

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
