Surprise, surprise!
Expect the price at the pump to spike above $3.00 this weekend.
According to AAA Auto Club South's Fuel Gauge Report, the nationwide average is presently $2.931 a gallon for regular unleaded, up nearly 71 cents a gallon from a year ago.
The latest excuse? Continued worries regarding the supply of Texas Tea and the recent launch of North Korea's test firecracker.
According to those who walk and talk gas, such international events don't influence gas prices directly but do create "geopolitical" worry. Adds to a bubbling stew of world wide contention.
Hmmm. Sort of like Iraq. Toss that into the geopolitical stew. Spice it with Halliburton and Dick Cheney's stock options. Stir with the $10 billion in profit reaped by the company from which Dick receives a deferred salary (The Raw Story, October 11, 2005).
Add a created war, a dash of neoconservative politicians and mix with a pinch of lies. Manipulate the country, I mean, the STEW, manipulate the stew. Whisk into economic frenzy.
Betty Crocker would be proud.
Serve to the ever growing complacent SUV driving American consumer. You know. The neighbor who says stuff like, "The rest of the world is paying $4.00 a gallon. Is $3.00 so bad?" OR. "I'm not driving that stupid looking Prius. Looks like a bug."
My compliments to the chef.
