Yesterday I took my family to the Magic Kingdom in Orlando for the day. Although I have been there dozens of times, I had never visited The Hall of Presidents attraction. It features animatronic representations of all of the presidents. The robots are so lifelike that they twitch, shift feet, breath, blink and perform numerous other natural gestures that my daughters (aged 9 & 11) thought they were actors!
At one point each president is introduced. When Kennedy was introduced there were a few applause, one person put their hands together for Nixon, my wife and I clapped for Carter, Reagan got a good showing of appreciation which died down a bit for Bush 41. When Clinton was intoduced the theater erupted in applause an cheers which quickly turned to boo's when Robo Dubya got his intro. After the show I asked the attendant whether that was typical and she said that it has been that way since she started working that attraction in January. I guess even the Happiest Place on Earth is no place to hide from low approval ratings!
