I have been here at Daily Kos almost since the beginning. Yes, I have a low user ID # and I have contributed to this board for a number of years.
I have been a staunch opponent of the policies of this administration and have worked tirelessly for Democratic candidates locally, statewide and on a national basis. I have sent my hard-earned money, generated from the business I have owned and built for more than 16 years, to candidates all across the country.
I have bashed George Bush and called him a "doofus," a "reckless, incompetent asswipe," and a "pathetic puppet of Lucifer himself, Dick Cheney."
But what I am about to say may get me flamed off Daily Kos forever...
(Read on...)
I was wrong about this administration.
I was wrong about George W. Bush.
I was wrong about Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld and Condi Rice and Alberto Gonzales and even Mike Brown.
And here's the surprising part...
I believe there are an awful lot of folks here who agree with me!
Yes, I have felt it of late in all the heated disagreements on the site on a wide variety of topics. Last week's internal battle in a Maryscott diary that generated more than 1,300 posts is proof point #1.
And then take Joe Lieberman. I have been disgusted at the ripping Joe has taken just for agreeing with Bush that Iraq IS the central front on the war on terror.
We Democrats have to agree that Iraq is turning around. I've read it on some blogs, but you'd never see it in the liberal media that seems intent on showing only the murder and mayhem over there that occurs on a daily basis.
And the economy is humming along. I've changed my mind on the Bush tax cuts. THEY HAVE WORKED! The rich are trickling down their wealth in the form of jobs and wages to the rest of us.
And right on down the line. Everyone points to Katrina as a fiasco and a disaster. But what are we supposed to do if old people won't get out of their chairs, grab their walkers and high-tail it away from certain disaster?
And the NSA programs? Have we been blown up again? `Nuff said.
And even Alito and Roberts seem to have their heads screwed on straight.
So flame me if you must. But I suspect some of you are feeling the same way I am.
We have been wrong about Bush. Completely, totally wrong.
He is smart and he is a visionary.
Flame away...
Though I suspect some may agree...
