Hmmmm Interesting bit on cnn today - it will surely be repeated! at the g-8 today, a conversation between bush and blair was "accidentally" recorded when the microphones were left on to record the conversation.
while discussing the violence in the middle east, our "elegant" statesman made the comment "they should just stop this shit" to blair and "i wish kofi would get on the phone with assad and do something" (paraphrased until i can get another look at transcript).
what is interesting is that blair was putting on the record that he is willing to go to the middle east after bush said that "condi is going next week" - and he would "tell her of your offer" (meaning blair).
the difference in intelligence and knowledge and scope of the difficulties in the middle east were never more apparent in hearing blair and bush "discussing" the problem.
the cnn announcer said at the end that "blair reached over and turned off the mike" - leaving the question, did he know all along that the mike was turned ON? was he setting up bush to be able to back away from american policy down the road? i get the feeling tony would like nothing better to differentiate himself from our "leader".
anyone else see the tape and what was YOUR interpretation of this exchange? i'll post more when it gets replayed (and, i'm sure it will!)
