I wanted to give a brief but significant update to my campaign for the Madison School District #38 Governing Board here in Phoenix, AZ. More below the fold.
First, I have received to endorsement from
Democracy for America - Maricopa County, which I am very excited. In addition, I just received notice that the national and local chapter of
Progressive Majority has endorsed me. I could not be more thrilled about this one. I firmly believe in the progressive movement and having the support of these organizations shows me that my ideas and thoughts are in line with the mainstream progressive movement.
It appears to me that the current educational structure in Arizona is designed just to train our children to pass the AIMS test. Teaching how to pass a standardized test hurts everyone, especially our children. Our children need a well-balanced education that includes a solid scientific knowledge, geography, literature, arts, music, as well as reading, writing, and math. I think that the children of Arizona and the Madison School District will be better served with this broad education. With a comprehensive educational background our children will not only better prepared for the AIMS test, but be better equipped to enter college and the global economic workforce.
I have nearly collected all the required signatures to get on the ballot. I hope to file early next week, and then barring any unforeseen consequences, I will be official. The major challenge still lies ahead. Just because I qualify does not mean that I have won. I cannot do it alone and I especially cannot do it without financial support. So please if you can spare $5, $10, or $20 or if you live in the Phoenix area and can volunteer your time please check out my website at EricKenney.com to find out how you can help.
I appreciate your time and your support.
Sincerely,
Eric Kenney
