Our silence regarding Robert Mugabe is disquieting.
Let's face it, folks, we fought hard for the liberation of Zimbabwe. Rhodesia was a big part of our push to free South Africa from the thrall of Apartheid. We fought hard & we won.
But what about Mugabe?
Didn't he ever hear about Mandela? Did he ever speak to Mandela about what was to follow?
We lefties supported Mugabe. We supported the liberation of black Africans from colonialism & oppression.
But Mugabe doublecrossed us and black Zimbabweans, as well as white & colored Zimbabweans.
What happened to Mugabe? Was he always a monster in disguise?
Did he trick us?
We helped him to win. We now have to exhert our pressure to help all Zimbabweans to be free of him.
Mugabe could have been a great historical figure, in the mold of Mandela. He could've been a hero. He has chosen to be a black eye for us all, and a reviled historical figure in the mold of Idi Amin.
The Establishment doesn't give a crap about Zimbabwe. They never did, except to oppose us. It was our fight to begin with, & it's our fight now.
I hope we can find it in ourselves to bring Mugabe down. He betrayed our trust and the trust of Zimbabweans. Their country is a shadow of what it could have been.
There is no excuse for what Mugabe has done to his country and his countrypeople. He has driven Zimbabwe, once the breadbasket of Africa, into the shithole of African failure. This is unacceptable. We fought for better than this. We fought for a prosperous Africa. Zimbabwe was a jewel. Mugabe has made it a shithole. Shame on him! He does not deserve to be let alone to do his will.
He betrayed us all.
Bob Marley would be appalled at what Mugabe has done.
We cannot ignore Mugabe. He is a monster. We must defeat him.
We helped put him there. We have a duty to take him out.

Top officials of seven Zimbabwean opposition parties were scheduled to converge in Bulawayo on Saturday to exchange ideas and present themselves to voters.
The Bulawayo Agenda advocacy group invited the presidents of both factions of the Movement for Democratic Change, the Zimbabwe African People's Union-Federal Party, the United People's Party, the Democratic Party, the United People's Movement, and the Patriotic Union of Matabeleland.
However, MDC founding President Morgan Tsvangirai told the group that a confllicting political engagement would prevent him from attending. Bulawayo Agenda Program Director Xolani Zitha said one of Tsvangirai's lieutenants was expected. He added that the Bulawayo Agenda is not affailiated with any particular political party.

Bill Moyers Wide Angle
did a very good expose of what Zimbabweans are going through. Botswana doen't want them, but they have nowhere to go. They once had so much promise. Now they have nothing.
Thanks to Robert Mugabe. Monster.
It's a very sad story. Zimbabwe could have been great. Instead Mugabe has made it a sinkhole. Educated Zimbabweans are working as undocumented maids in Botswana.
Mugabe is a loser. And he has shamed us. He has shamed his country and his people.
We have to Oppose Mugabe. He has sullied our good name. Mugabe does not represent our intentions for Zimbabwe.
If anyone has an action we can do to support Zimbabweans, please post it in the thread & I will update this diary.
Who do we support? What can we do?
Let's step up for Zimbabweans & get rid of Mugabe.
Help me out here.
