Democrats support Israel's right to exist. PERIOD.
Even if we disagree on certain Israeli policies, we support Israel's right to exist.
The official Democrat position states:
The Middle East. The Democratic Party is fundamentally committed to the security of our ally Israel and the creation of a comprehensive, just and lasting peace between Israel and her neighbors. Our special relationship with Israel is based on the unshakable foundation of shared values and a mutual commitment to democracy, and we will ensure that under all circumstances, Israel retains the qualitative edge for its national security and its right to self-defense. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel and should remain an undivided city accessible to people of all faiths.
There's more here
Now, it is perfectly acceptable to disagree with Israeli policies and still be a rational person and a good Democrat. What is not acceptable is to liken Israel to Nazi Germany, promote conspiracy theories that are absolutely absurd and have the sole purpose of promoting anti-Semitism.
Why not just turn DailyKos into one of those 9-11 conspiracy websites? Why not promote the disgusting Neo-Nazi claims that 2,000 Jews didn't show up to work on 9-11 because they were warned about the attacks beforehand, and the Israeli Government knew?
Posters on DailyKos do themselves an injustice by recommending such Diaries, and make it impossible for Democrat politicians to associate themselves with this site.
Do you think General Clark or Senator Obama will take the chance of being associated with a rabid group of anti-Semites? Not a chance in Hell.
It's perfectly legitimate to disagree with Israeli policies. I'm more than a little pissed off at the ferocity of Israeli attacks into Lebanon and the civilian deaths.
What is NOT legitimate is all of the anti-Semitism and conspiracy theory bullshit that is disguising itself as diaries here at dailykos.
I am deeply concerned about how fast anti-Israel Diaries raise to the front of DailyKos and any Diary supporting Israel quickly disappears.
So really, this is a plea to Markos to find a solution quickly. Before we lose the credibility everyone has worked so hard to attain.
