As I'm sure many of you know, the same group that set out to destory John Kerrys war record (Swiftboat Veterans for Truth) has regenerated itself in order to destory Rep. John Murthas war record.  Now the attacks are getting close to home and I'm asking anybody and everybody to step up to the plate.

Having lived in the PA 12th all of my life, I can tell you this region would have nothing if it weren't for Jack Murtha.  He has worked admirably to bring extensive defense contracts to the region and improve the regions once sour economy after the fall of the steel and coal industries in Pennsylvania. His opinons are usually of a conservative nature and he is a well grounded man, which is why he is such a threat to the war profiteering going on in this present conflict.
"The Veterans for Truth" are a group set out to destroy John Murthas war record and ultimatly see to his unseating in the November election to his Republican opponent.  It is very crucial to many causes in this country that the group defeated; not only to my hometown and district, but to the cause for truth, and bringing our troops home from the war in Iraq.
The group will be holding a press conference outside of Murthas Campaign office in Johnstown, Pennsylvania on Thursday Aug. 3rd at 11 AM.  A group of Murtha supporters will be protesting right in front of them at this time, and I am asking anybody who is in the region that can attend this demonstration to please help out.  My email is jimmydean201@hotmail.com    If you cannot, you can email your outrage at these disgraceful tactics to rallyinfo@bootmurtha.cox.    Lets stand together and fight the good fight!

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

AAAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!  Lamont has all the momentum in Connecticut, though... off topic.  Back to the Swifties, back to the Republicants who do NOT support our Troops or our Veterans.  Not One Little Bit.  They support the war machine, and don't give a flying rats ass about shared sacrifice.  They are in their fancy gas-guzzlers with the A/C turned up full blast, out golfing and having fun, counting their stock-market profits and fighting their hardest to keep from paying any taxes.  One cheezy sticker on your car does NOT get it. This never-ending deciet and slander has got to be stopped, thank-you for organizing. Chris Matthews just said people are excited at the idea of a woman POTUS.  No to Rudy, duh.  watching re-runs ...can't sleep, too much anarchy in the World.  Thanks, all you assholes from Texas who hijacked the White House.  Are you through yet???  Mel Gibson drunk lunatic who hates Jews???  Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.  They better keep that guy locked up and heavily medicated, huh???  After all, it is unpatriotic to be against the killing of innocent life and destruction of the world by the war machine.  They should keep guys like that in cages, right????  Like they told me when they locked me up and fed me medicines, I was just too involved in politics and religion, and if I did not want to end up back there, I should take my pills and keep my opinions to myself, not try to change the world or anything CRAZY like that.  Guess Murtha is crazy, too, huh?!?

Excuse me. I don't generally post diaries as there are a number of good, competent posters (yourself included) who are generally outraged about the same things I am. I have however posted about 3-4 comments per day when I visit, which is often.
I object to an attack on the mistakes based on what might be newbie ignorance of protocol; as you would have realized if you had bothered to read jimmydean's comments on the Montana senator's race, where he had posted the information on the Murtha rally as an OT comment, had been (rightly) called down for it, and advised to diary it instead.
I looked up the Boot Murtha site and found it to be in line with the attacks on Kerry, and that these assholes intend to do exactly the same thing to Murtha, so the poster's note of alarm is warranted. If you know that the poster is a troll by personal experience rather than circumstantial evidence, say so. Otherwise, I think it's a little overboard to call him one.

if this were a properly sourced diary with names of groups that were actual groups.....it might make sense....but not so for me in this one......

sorry....i expect something a bit more if i'm going to be directed to a bootmurtha site to express my outrage.

i hear what you're saying and i understand it.  read my comments elsewhere in this diary to get a better feel for where im comin from.   i'm not going to accept people posting shit here out of the blue with no references, no links, no sources, with erroneous group names, directing people to post their outrage to anti-democratic email addies....

if i mischaracterized you as a troll, then i apologize. i will admit that i still am not convinced that you are not one. i honestly hate when a diary becomes a debate on whether or not the diarist is a troll or not. therefore, i will leave that part of the discussion to others.
what i will discuss is the suggestion that people email anyone over at bootmurtha. i sincerely hope that nobody does. there are a few reasons for that. when people email them and rant and rave, it will not change the minds of anyone who is reading. instead, it will empower the morons because they will brag about the number of emails they get. they will not bother to characterize them as negative or positive. in addition, you hand them ammunition. they will pick out the worst sounding bits and pieces and wave them around declaring that they personify the crazies on the other side. i hope instead that people will contact murtha's office and ask what the congressman would like people to do. i get the feeling that murtha is not afraid of these assholes.
jimmydean, if you are sincere and are really the young murtha supporter that you purport to be, i hope you will use your energies in a better way.

i hope that the pro-murtha protestors will keep it respectful (not that the swiftboaters are due any respect). murtha has a lot of class, and his supporters should reflect that when they protest. don't let the assholes get to you. they would love for the opposition to look like a bunch of crazies.

  •  Vocabulary wars (0+ / 0-)

I clicked on the boot-Murtha link and noticed among the other swill on the site that a goodly chunk of space had been dedicated to an attempt to regain control over the verb "to swiftboat" (or more precisely, the gerund "swiftboating" formed from it). They want the term to mean "exposing dishonesty" and to stop meaning "dishonestly attacking someone's record using lies and innuendo".

They'll have a problem with that around people I know, but I think that this vocabulary counter-attack is a potentially smart move, especially if the trained media picks it up and begins to use it in the sense the swiftboaters themselves prefer.
