I support Ned Lamont and I want him to beat Joementum's sorry Bush-kissing ass. I'm really interested in seeing this race get as much play as it has on DKos, because a year, no six months ago, this would have been impossible.
However, there is a downside to this interest in the Lieberman-Lamont primary: we are getting DISTRACTED from other Senate and House races! There are like a million CT-Sen threads, but nary a thread for Claire McCaskill or Jim Webb. Burns is getting press for this bashing of the firefighters, but compared to Liberman he still doesn't get much attention. Even the Florida sideshow better known as Katherine Harris is getting less press than Joe, even though the things she's doing are a lot funnier.
What especially worries me about our focus on CT-Sen is how much focus will we put on it if there is a three-way race between Lamont, Lieberman, and Schlesinger? By September and October, we will need to fire up our donations for other candidates, and while we know that Lieberman is a douchebag and an appeaser, he will still caucus for the Democrats despite this Indy bid. Plus, Lamont can fund himself because he's rich. I believe that the majority of our time should be spent donating for other races, in addition to Lamont's.
THis is why I hope that after the primary, there will only be TWO candidates running in the general: either Lamont and Schlesinger, or Lieberman and Schlesinger. Either combination of those two will make it so that we don't have to pour money in and divert it from other close races (barring a replacement of Schlesinger by someone like Chris Shays.)
