Stacey Tallitsch lost everything he owned in hurricane Katrina. Like many others he has experienced firsthand the pain of an incompetent conservative government. For seven months he was a refugee, yet now he is back in his district, rebuilding his life, and running for public office.
Ironically his opponent, Bobby Jindal, is a Bush lackey who, pre-katrina, did not support aiding our people or our coast, but only his own political aspirations to become the next govenor of Louisiana.
Stacey Tallitsch is just one of the many, many people who have lost their houses and possessions to a hurricane. What makes Stacey different from alot of people, is that he has not only begun moving back into his area after being displaced for many months, but he is running against an individual who aided the Bush administration in ignoring pre-Katrina pleas on aiding the coast.
One of the reasons I support Stacey is that he is a true democrat when it comes to the issues. Being in a conservative leaning district and running against an ultra-conservative has not changed Mr. Tallitsch's opinions or stopped him from attacking the corruption and incompetence of the Bush administration and Bobby Jindal.
His opponents have taken to belittling his campaign (from www.lafirst.org:
"But Filson's people did what McNerney failed to do: They checked Tallitsch out and learned he doesn't have enough money in his campaign coffers to rise to underdog status. He's more of an undermouse."
Stacey responds like a true democrat should, with truth and conviction:
"The Contra Costa Times never contacted me or anyone in my campaign. If they had, they would have "checked" something as well. I just returned home after 7 months as a refugee after Katrina, (which is clearly stated on my website). My campaign's weak FEC report for the first quarter is due to this inconvenient truth.
I would challenge, dare even, Ms. Vordenbrueggen to walk away from her home, worldly possessions (forever), with nothing but the clothes on her back, stay in a hotel for 7 months without working and see where she ends up. Perhaps then she wouldn't be so contemptuous. (I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt on that one.)"
Of course, even while his opponent's laugh and belittle him, they go for the jugular creating an issue about a book which Mr. Tallitsch wrote.
You see, Mr. Tallitsch, is the author of two books, one about taking back the government for the people, and the other about the lies and evils of the religious right and how a small band of extremists are ruining the country.
Neither of these books, as you can imagine, has Republican activists happy. They know where Stacey stands, and he is opposed to the corrupt bigotry that is ruining our country.
Either way, I hope you all start looking into Stacey Tillitsch, he needs your support. At a most difficult time of his life, he is running for public office.
