I'm just back from the massive
Stop the War demo in London
today, I had hoped to have a mass of pictures for you Kossacks, but I got involved as a steward so can only give you the one, but I think it says a lot.
What can I tell you about today.
I won't go over the reasons why we were all there, we all know that.
We started at Speakers Corner in Hyde Park. We still have freedom of speech over here. Just.
The March led off late due to huge numbers.
First point on route was the heavily fortified US Embassy. Cue mass chanting of Shame on You.
Second stop, the Cenotaph, the UK's main memorial to war dead. An appropriate place for the Lebanese children at the head of the march to lay coffins.
As marchers passed they laid childrens shoes as a memorial to the hundreds of dead children in this horrendous war.
Next, brief, stop Downing Street. People screaming tony tony tony out out out. Let's hope. The Labour Party conference is at the end of September. Let's hope they do their job and oust him. He's not my Prime Minister.
On to Parliament Square with a huge array of speakers, muslims, trade unionists, lebanese, politicians, CND, palestinian solidarity, military families against war and finally some hasidic jews, who couldn't speak with it being the sabbath, but stood on stage in solidarity with everyone there and got one of the best receptions of the afternoon.
I'm tired, it's two in the morning. If there is a demonstration near you go. Please.
CEASEFIRE NOW.
