This probably goes without saying, but here's one kossack that is hoping ... begging ... that the intense and unbalanced attention paid to one race in Connecticut doesn't continue past today.
It was understandable for this one race to dominate the progressive blogosphere during the past few weeks. There weren't that many other "election days" yesterday, after all. But the next election day for Lamont will be, obviously, on the same election day for Jim Webb, Claire McCaskill, Bob Casey, Jack Carter, Phil Kellam, Ken Lucas, Heath Shuler, Sherrod Brown, Jim Pederson, and many many others.
So, I'm pleading for the obvious.
I'm pleading against the temptation of extending Connecticut week into Connecticut season. There are many Democratic candidates mentioned above that need money (like Jim Webb) or name ID (like Jim Pederson) or whatever else activists can help raise.
A victory for Ned Lamont in November will be a dramatic and important moment for the progressive movement. It will also give Democrats no net gain in Congress. Let's remember both of these facts - and keep the appropriate balance as we head into the last few months of the '06 campaign season.
In the comments [and the tags], let us know about the other races you'll be focusing on this fall.
