I'm a huge Diane Rehm fan, so this morning (like most mornings I'm listening) I whipped out an email to her about the CT Primary. And I was pissed.
It was Diane, EJ Dionne from the Washington Post & Susan Page from USA Today.
I've been fuming about this race same as everyone else, and there were a couple of things I thought were extremely important that were not being addressed, and still aren't.
This is my amatuer transcript, the audio is up at www.npr.org. Comes in at 18:14 right after EJ Dionne talks about Dkos.
DR- Here's an email from Paddy. Who says,
"I want to point out Mr Lieberman has been a staunch defender/apologist for President Bush,
and reiterated many times that Bush won the election so he should be given the respect.
Lamont won the primary at almost exactly the same percentage that Mr Bush did. I believe Lamont has a mandate and that Mr Lieberman is being a bald faced hypocrite who should accept his defeat and support Lamont. There is no dignity or unity re-elected (ed: reflected) in his current actions."
EJ Dionne: I'm going to let Susan make that moral judgement for us.... (laughter)
It was almost as good as being on the rec list to have Diane read my email, but I really wish they had addressed the bs and called it what it is. They basically just went on to talk about how Joe might find out he had less friends than he thought.
Joe Lieberman is being a hypocrite and twisting his morals to suit himself. He needs to be called on it often and loud. I want to know why respect and honoring the peoples choice is the ultimate goal only when it reflects on Republican candidates.
