We have seen what the net roots can and will do for Ned Lamont, Jon Tester, and others. I have donated money to both of them as well as others. I have also donated to
Diane Benson, Democrat, Alaska.
I would like to see what we can do to remove Don Young (R-AK) and replace him with a good progressive Democrat - Diane Benson. Check out her site at http://bensonforcongress.com.
Don Young's possible Abramoff links have been diaried here, here, and here.
Diane has a progressive stance on the issues:
* Supporting Our Troops and Honoring Our Veterans
* Prosperity NOT Poverty
* Defend Our Rights and Freedoms
Diane has several
endorsements including one from former senator
Max Cleland:
Alaska needs Diane as the next member of Congress in the House of Representatives. She will bring strong leadership and a perspective to the needs of our Veterans and Soldiers that no other member in Congress can offer. I have watched this family take tragedy in their lives and turn it around. It is Diane and her son's continued strength to persevere that constantly impresses me. Diane is one courageous woman.
According to Doug Yates at Fairbanks Open Radio, Diane has recently polled well in a straw poll at the Tanana Valley Fair in Fairbanks.
The League of Women Voters straw poll at the Tanana Valley Fair indicates Rep. Young has a race on his hands. According to data from the Benson campaign, a recent tally of 249 registered voters visiting the fair, and likely to vote in the upcoming November general election, produced a show of strong support for Benson. The long-time incumbent polled 53 percent while Benson gained 47 percent of likely voters.
Although, not very scientific, with a small sample size in a niche area she polled well, despite being an unknown versus a very well known 33 year Congressman. Don Young can be beat.
I am not connected with Diane Benson's campaign and have never met her but I like what she stands for and would like to see Don Young replaced. It is possible that we can turn this seemingly long shot race into a win with some donations and some name recognition.
Thank You,
because
