In an interesting
diary from a few days back, one amazing fact was quoted by Ned Lamont: the administration currently spends
$250,000,000 per day on the war in Iraq.
Most of us are already opposed to the war, but I figure this might be a nice speculative thread to discuss ways of using the money.
Personally, I'd love to see the money split between healthcare and education: half the money would fund programs for uninsured children and families, and the other half would go to fund scholarships for high school students, with an emphasis placed on science and engineering. I'm not sure how many children could be helped with the former program, but the other could reach hundreds of thousands of students per year.
However, that's just how I'd want to use the money. How would YOU use it? What are your priorities?
