Okay, they're
test blow ups, for now, but while today's big news is
President Numbnutz' admission that Iraq's involvement with September 11th was (scream it with me)
NOTHING!,
Iran -- that other evil empire in the Middle East -- continues to whip out its metaphorical penis, throw it on the table, and tempt the world to ridicule it.
Pay attention, kids. Iran is not just posturing anymore.
This is prelude. Symbolism. Foreshadowing.
That's not an attempt at alarmism. Does this sound familiar?
Iran turned away U.N. inspectors from an underground site meant to shelter its uranium enrichment program from attack, diplomats said Monday, while the country's supreme leader said Tehran will not give up its contentious nuclear technology.
OK, then, how 'bout this?
Iran's reported actions were likely to harden Western resolve to punish the Tehran regime if it refuses to give up uranium enrichment, which can be used to create the fissile core of nuclear warheads.
And I'm very sure that the deadline for the International Atomic Energy Agency to report on Tehran's actions is a mere coincidence, and that Bush/Snow will not make any reference to 9/11 on this date.
IAEA head Mohamed ElBaradei is to report by Sept. 11 to the agency's board on Iran's compliance with the Security Council deadline on freezing enrichment and on other aspects of Tehran's cooperation with U.N. inspectors.
And this little overlooked rhetoric from Numbnutz today means nothing:
And one of the things I will continue to remind our friends and allies is the danger of a nuclear-armed Iran.
And when we say "consequences," we don't mean war or anything like that...
"There must be consequences if people thumb their nose at the United Nations Security Council. We will work with people on the Security Council to achieve that objective," US President George W Bush said.
OK, enough block quotes. You get the idea.
Nevermind the fact that 61% of Americans disapprove of the Iraq War (a new high, by the way)...
Or that our military is spread thinner than butter on bread...
Or that voters are unlikely to fall (again) for another "axis of evil" speech.
We are witnessing the prelude to another war. Whether it's nuclear ambitions or U.N. defiance or Iran's support of Israel, Mr. Numbnutz thinks he's destined to install freedom in the entire Middle East.
And nothing begets freedom...like war.
