You SAY you're anti-war. You SAY you want the troops home now. You SAY you're for the impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney. You SAY dissent is patriotic. But.....
Given a choice in the primary, would you vote that way? Or would you vote for the sure winner?
The most powerful pro-war Democrat is going unchallenged in New York. Whatever you say, Hillary Clinton is not listening now, and she won't be listening in 2008. All summer long she has avoided debating her only challenger, Jonathan Tasini. Today's New York Times points out that Sen. Clinton
should debate Tasini.
Mrs. Clinton has successfully ignored Mr. Tasini all summer, and now it seems clear that she has no intention of responding to his demands that she meet him in a debate.
She should change her mind. In a year when New York has very few competitive elections, voters are going to get very little chance to hear serious discussions from the candidates. Since Mr. Tasini is running an antiwar campaign, it would be very useful for New Yorkers to have a chance to hear the two Democratic candidates debate that one issue. New York Times
If you consider Sen. Clinton a sure thing, you should change your mind, as well.
WHERE IS SEN. CLINTON ON THE ISSUES? Consider this before giving her your tacit approval.
Without debate, without dissent, without accountability Sen. Clinton has been given the passive and silent go-ahead. Without being challenged, without debate and dissent Sen. Clinton represents her corporate donor base including media giants Rupert Murdoch and Time Warner, but she does not represent Democrats whose number one issue is the war in Iraq. We want the troops home now. Is anybody listening?
Since 911 the drift to minimize and squelch open discussion about all political issues and threats subtle or direct to vigorous speech of dissent and questioning has continued. Without vigorous debate, dissent and questioning we allow a dangerous accretion of power in the presidency and government in general. We need to question policies that abridge basic civil rights. We need robust debate and strong challenging dissent. That's the way to keep America strong.
Unfortunately the principles of DEBATE, DISSENT and QUESTIONING seem invisible. Where there should be loud debate there is obscene silence. DISSENT is considered bordering on "sedition."
Terror of Silence

Senator Clinton, here's my 2 cents
Here is the challenge:
* Send a message to Sen. Clinton. Demand that she debate Jonathan Tasini.
* Donate $5.02 to the Tasini for New York campaign. (Or any donation plus 2 cents -- that way all donations will be tagged) Demand that Sen. Clinton debate her only challenger before the primary.
* Say no to the war in Iraq.
* Say you want the troops home now.
* Say YES to the impeachment of George Bush and Dick Cheney.
* Say YES to debate and dissent.
Send this message of support to Tasini for New York. DEMAND that Sen. Clinton debate Jonathan Tasini before the primary.
