Bush's wretched mockery of a press conference was yet another degrading public spectacle in an endless train wreck of degrading public spectacles, featuring the babbling idiocy of a man who destroys everything he touches. He cannot speak coherently, he cannot think coherently, he can't even lie coherently, despite a lifetime of practice. All he can do is strut around destroying everything in sight, and if he is not stopped from unleashing air strikes on Iran, America and the world will be plunged into a Black Hole of endless war from which there will never be any escape.
As confrontation with Iran looms, progressives all need to take a long look in the mirror. Netroots blogging is not going to prevent BushCo air strikes on Iran, neither is contributing to Democratic candidates, nor signing petitions, nor calling Congressmen and Senators.
People Power in the streets of Washington D. C. is becoming the only course available to us.
Nothing else will prevent BushCo from launching an air campaign against Iran, which will incite a tidal wave of terrorism and provide them the pretext to declare martial law, suspend the 2006 elections, shut down progressive blogs, and haul us away to detention camps.
As BushCo's warmongering escalates over the coming days and weeks, perhaps the "sophisticated" progressives among us will realize that marches and demonstrations are not obsolete, and will ponder the wisdom of criticizing those of us calling for demonstrations in Washington. People Power saved democracy in the Philippines, Ukraine, and . . . let me think for a moment . . . ah yes, People Power also brought down that communist dictatorship in the Soviet Union in three fucking days.
If I recall correctly, the media covered those minor accomplishments, so perhaps instead of lecturing advocates of marches and demonstrations that the media will ignore such quaint, outmoded events, "sophisticated" progressives will shut the hell up and help us put some People Power boots on the ground in Washington D.C. on October 5, 2006. Maybe some of them will even show up themselves if they aren't too busy bringing BushCo to its knees with another blog comment or a $10 contribution to Lois Murphy.
If the million progressives who read Daily Kos took a day off from their keyboards on October 5 and visited the White House instead, I suspect that our presence would get some attention. We need to drop by and say hello to George W. Bush. His brilliance, deep religious faith, comprehensive stragedies, and uniter not divider skills may impress his bitch of a mother, but the rest of us have other things on our beautiful minds, and would like to share our thoughts with that sack of shit she grunted into the world in 1946.
I realize that catching large mouth bass in his lake, neck-rubbing heads-of-state, passing gas to impress young aides, and screwing Condi in the back of limousines keep Bush's schedule pretty full, but we need to talk.
People Power

Be there.
